Five Time Award Winning Missy Elliott

Missy Elliot is a musician that has been nominated for twenty different Grammy Awards. She was first nominated in 1998, but did not actually win a Grammy until 2002. In 2002, Missy Elliot won her first Grammy Award for Best Pop Collaboration with Vocals for the song “Lady Marmalade”. During the same year, she was also nominated and won the Grammy for Best Rap Solo Performance for her song, “Get Your Freak On”. The next year, 2003, Missy Elliot received the Grammy Award for Best Female Rap Solo Performance with her song, “Scream a.k.a. Itchin”. In 2004, Missy was again nominated for a Grammy for Best Female Rap Solo Performance, which she went on to win with her song, “Work It”. The following year, Missy did not receive any nominations, but went on to be nominated a total of five times in 2006. That year, she won another Grammy Award for Best Short Form Video for her song, Lose Control”. While Missy Elliot has won only five Grammy Awards, she has won several other awards that include seven MTV Video Music Awards, six BET Awards, five Soul Train Lady of Soul Awards, three Soul Train Music Awards, two American Music Awards, one BET Hip Hop Award, and one Vibe Award.

All in all, Missy Elliot has shown herself to be a comprehensive and influential musician. Since she won her first MTV Video Music Award in 2001, Missy has proven that she is worthy of her awards and accolades. She has worked her way up through the music industry, and earned the five Grammy Awards that have been awarded to her. Even today she continues to be a role model for young women around the world.
