Missy Elliot is an inspiring artist. Her innovative music style and choreography is not only refreshing, but a testament of her positive and strong personality. Looking up to Missy Elliot is something that keeps me driven. She is one of the best artists to venture into the hip hop industry. Hip Hop has frequently discredited females and disrespected them as well. Missy Elliot, however, must have ignored those truths. She persevered and excelled with her first single. Under the guidance of Timbaland and on the same team as the late Aaliyah, she was almost destined to win. When her album came out, people were more than happy to buy two. I know my friends and I were. We waited for the albums release date and headed to our local WalMart to purchase. Her strong personality made her unique style ideal for my friends and I. Even though Missy sold millions of records, she never once dressed revealingly or disrespected other females. She simply used words that exemplified her attributes and creative abilities. Collaborations with Missy Elliot were an immediate success. This influenced many producers and artists to tap into many of Missy’s other valuable sources. They used Timbaland’s beats and Missy’s lyrics or vice versa. Either way, the strong personality and unmatched style of Missy Elliot set her apart from all other Hip Hop artists and has millions of fans waiting to see what will be next.
